neobject is a new exhibition area planned by Chen Min for the 'Accessories of Design Pavilion'in Design Shanghai. This is an exhibition project centered on object, aiming to discover outstanding craftsmen with artistic aesthetics and design thinking, and to show the multiple dimensions of traditional craft innovation.
The first neobject space theme was 'Fusion & Boundary---between the explicit and the implicit '. The designer used regular geometric forms and combined semi-shielding material to softly separate the exhibits from the'visible' and the 'hidden', giving each exhibits a space for in-depth viewing; to bring the audience a fluid and rhythmic exhibition experience.
The entire exhibition area is composed of a centralized booth named 'NEW OBJECTOR' and scattered booth called 'YOUNG BRAND'.
Although they are called 'NEW OBJECTOR', the exhibits on display are from designers, craftsmen and artists who have been deeply involved in their respective fields. This includes the full series of ONE PIECE works by the famous Dutch designer Aldo Bakker, as well as the first release of his and domestic design brand Wow design's cooperation artwork-- CHA SET; Chen Min Office's modern modeling language to traditional lacquer-ware IDENTICAL; Japanese craftsmen Takeshi Yasuda who has been shortlisted for 'LOEWE International Crafts Award' with Chen Min presented to us his QINGBAI GLAZE SHINOGI COLLODIAL GOLD BOWL and LONG PLATE; THE LARGE TEA BOWL from THE TRANSFORMATION SERIES of Dong Quanbin, a master craftsmen who was born in Jingdezhen but devoted himself into porcelain creation.
Being invited as well was Danful Yang, who have not received professional design education but created ZIG ZAG TRAY with her unique insight and material perception ,and Yaoyao Xin, a young craftsmen who studied ceramics with her outstanding style and scientific spirit. Transformed daily plastic shopping bags into the form of jade plug and jade cover in the tomb culture of Han dynasty is based on Liu Xiao, director of the jewelry department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts who reflects on the prevailing unconscious consumption habits and behavior at present times. With a modern appearance designed to maximize the display of different lacquer techniques, Ming Design Studio established by the designers Zhiya( Yona) Huang and Mingshuo Zhang presented their BOLD STOOL with great vitality. Dan Tomimatsu, a Japanese jewelry designer who merges the boundaries of nature and art with geometric graphics and natural features. There is also some brand new design for neobject: created by the Japanese designer Yashima Ide, from the tea room of Senno Rikyu as its origin of the design. It is a refined WOODEN TEA WARE under modern design thinking. As well as the installation artist JUJU WANG, using Dai Paper with the history more than 800 years as the main material to create a large-scale paper artwork that wraps the entire booth.

During the exhibition, we were lucky enough to get acquainted with 10 domestic emerging Object 'YOUNG BRANDS'. Their creation incorporates modern aesthetics, functional requirements and material innovations, showing the beauty of the current life of the Chinese people, with a sense of inheritance trace feelings.
